What is a magnetomotive force?

This is the magnetic field produced by a coil of wire when a current is passed through it. A larger magnetic field is produced when there are more coils in the solenoid and when more current is passed through the coil. Magnetomotive force is measured in ampere-turns but can also be measured in Gilberts.
